Using stones and a jug of water, kids will see with their own eyes how water is displaced when an object is submerged in it. Get several different sized clear plastic containers and have your child experiment on their own by filling the containers with various levels of water. Have them drop rocks or small toys in the water and mark the water level on the container with a permanent marker.
